Magnetic lock installation and precautions

**Magnetic Lock Design** A magnetic lock, also known as an electromagnetic lock, operates on the same principle as an electromagnet. When electric current flows through the coil wrapped around a silicon steel core, it generates a strong magnetic field. This magnetic force creates a powerful attraction between the lock and a metal plate, securely holding the door in place to achieve a locking effect. **Installation Method** Step 1: Begin by opening the cover using a screwdriver. Then, use a hex key to punch the mounting board, preparing it for installation. Step 2: Remove the mounting board and fold it along the dotted line. Place it in the desired location on the door. Mark the areas where you need to drill and then proceed with the drilling. Step 3: A. Once the iron plate is fixed, insert an Allen screw into the plate. Place a rubber washer between two metal washers, and then secure it onto the hex screw. Insert the iron plate into the three holes on the door and push the mushroom head from the other side. Use a hex wrench to tighten the iron plate onto the door. B. Attach the side board to the previously drilled door frame using two round-head screws, which should be inserted into the long hole on the board. Make sure not to fully lock the edge plate so that it can move slightly, allowing for position adjustments. C. Adjust the side plate so that it aligns properly with the heel plate, ensuring the lock body makes full contact with the iron plate. D. Secure the main lock body and the round-head screws on the side plates. Tighten all the countersunk screws, remove the round-head screws, and drill the necessary holes for wiring. Finally, use a hex wrench to fasten the lock body to the side plate. Step 4: Connect the wires according to the instructions provided. Step 5: Replace the cover and insert a small aluminum cylinder into the screw hole of the lock body. **Surface Mounting Type** When installing a surface-mounted magnetic lock on an interior door, additional accessories are needed. We use high-quality, imported aluminum materials to create the Z&L bracket. Each Z&L bracket includes three aluminum components: the longer L1 bracket is used for mounting the lock body, while the shorter Z2 and Z3 brackets are for the iron plate. Z2 is installed on the door, featuring five counterbores for securing it to the door. Z3 is used to fix the iron plate, with three holes on its side, where the center hole must align with the iron plate's center. a. Place the L1 bracket into the Z&L bracket in the locked position and secure it to the door frame or wall using tapping screws. b. Use a hex wrench to lock the lock body onto the L1 bracket. c. Position the Z2 bracket on the door, aligning it with the L1 bracket. d. Insert the iron plate into the three holes of the Z1 bracket and temporarily fix it. Close the door to ensure the magnet and iron plate make proper contact, and determine the alignment points between Z1 and Z2 (adjustable based on door thickness). e. Lock the Z1 and Z2 brackets together, then secure the helix plate to the Z1 bracket using an M8*25 Allen screw, threading the screw, iron plate, washer, and rubber washer one by one. f. For double doors, two Z&L brackets can be used. **Embedded Type** For embedded installations, both interior and exterior doors follow the same method. If the door has a solid rib large enough to accommodate the lock body, the process is straightforward—simply cut a suitable slot, install the lock, and tighten the screws. Most construction workers can handle this. However, for hollow aluminum alloy door frames, we have designed two installation methods. A. Wood Block Lining: Insert a wooden block of the correct size into the door frame and secure it with screws. This method is simple and widely used. B. Mounting Fittings Method: Use the provided accessories (four-hole iron plate + U-shaped bracket) to simplify installation. Installation Notes: Ensure the door ribs are slightly larger than the lock size to allow for proper installation. **Glass Door Type** The installation method for glass doors with aluminum (or other material) frames is similar to that of regular doors. Important Precautions: Glass doors must be equipped with an aluminum frame. The magnetic lock requires a distance of less than 6 mm between the door and the frame. The ground spring must be of stable quality to ensure accurate positioning of the lock. II.1. Installation of Glass Doors Without a Frame: UBK brackets are required for installation. The process is similar to surface mounting, but when installing the iron plate in step 3, the U-shaped groove, rubber cushion, and stainless steel gasket (on the side of the lock screw) are placed on the glass door. Secure the door using a hex socket screw, then fix the iron plate to the U-shaped groove. Depending on the thickness of the glass door and the model of the magnetic lock, different types of mounting accessories like the UBK bracket are available. 2. Use the AB bracket to mount the AB frame on the glass door using special glass glue (or double-sided tape), then attach the iron plate to the bracket.
