On the afternoon of October 16, Shanghai Petroleum carried out the preliminary acceptance of the first batch of 23 electronically modified gasoline tankers by the logistics fleet. This initiative marks a significant step forward in enhancing operational efficiency and safety during oil transportation. The installation of electronic locks has replaced the traditional lead seals, eliminating the need for manual handling and reducing the risk of tampering or errors. This upgrade not only streamlines the process but also improves the reliability and traceability of quality control throughout the entire delivery chain.
The new electronic lock system consists of a locking mechanism installed on the tanker, a remote control key used for loading and unloading operations, and a decoder located at both the gas station and the oil depot. Before any loading or unloading takes place, the decoder must detect that the remote control key is within the authorized range and "authorize" it to unlock the system. This ensures that only authorized personnel can access the tank, following strict requirements such as having the correct key, being in the designated area, and maintaining the proper distance. These measures significantly enhance security and reduce the chances of unauthorized access or fuel theft.
During the summer high-temperature period, when fuel delivery on highways was particularly challenging, the logistics center took proactive steps by arranging 36 fleets of gasoline vehicles to install the electronic locks at their loading and unloading ports. Additionally, all oil tanks were upgraded according to uniform standards, with traditional sealed iron boxes replaced by reinforced 3 mm steel panels for added durability and security.
As the installation requires integration with both the gas station and oil depot platforms, the manufacturer is continuously refining the system based on the company’s feedback. It is expected that the first batch of tankers will begin trial operations in early November, marking a milestone in the implementation of this advanced technology. This move reflects Shanghai Petroleum's commitment to innovation, safety, and operational excellence in the fuel distribution sector.
