In 2012, scientists from the University of Florida demonstrated that doping graphene with trifluoromethanesulfonamide (TFSA) significantly improved its performance in solar cells. The resulting doped graphene solar cells achieved an impressive energy conversion rate of 8.6%, setting a new benchmark for this emerging technology. Experts believe that if the energy conversion efficiency of graphene-based solar cells can reach 10% while maintaining low production costs, they could become a major competitor in the renewable energy market. As research continues to advance, the future of graphene in solar technology looks increasingly bright.
