Yesterday, I heard about two serious fires happening within just two hours in Malu Town, located in the Jiading District of Shanghai. What's strange is that both incidents involved furniture factories. One woman tragically lost her life in the second fire, and the whole situation remains under police investigation.
Around 10:50 AM, a massive fire erupted in a warehouse in Beiguan Village. The warehouse covered approximately 800 square meters, and it seemed like the flames were everywhere. Thankfully, firefighters responded swiftly, sending dozens of fire trucks to the scene. They worked tirelessly for almost an hour before finally managing to put out the fire. From what witnesses described, thick smoke filled the sky, and the fire occasionally shot up high into the air. Apparently, the warehouse was illegally storing a huge quantity of fireworks and firecrackers, which likely contributed to the intensity of the blaze. Luckily, only one worker sustained minor injuries during the chaos.
Just two hours later, around 12:30 PM, another fire broke out in a different furniture factory on Chenbao Road. This time, hundreds of square meters of the factory building were damaged. Over 30 fire trucks arrived at the scene, but the damage was already significant. As witnesses recalled, the factory had been storing large amounts of flammable materials, such as raw furniture supplies and construction materials. This made the fire spread incredibly fast. At its peak, the smoke rose tens of meters into the air, creating a terrifying sight. It took until around 1:40 PM for firefighters to bring the fire under control. Tragically, a newly married female worker did not survive the blaze, which has left everyone heartbroken.
I can't help but wonder how these accidents could have happened so close together and involving similar circumstances. It’s a stark reminder of the importance of fire safety measures, especially in areas where flammable materials are stored. I hope lessons can be learned from these events to prevent future tragedies.
