MDF

MDF, or Medium-Density Fiberboard, is a type of engineered wood product made from wood fibers or other plant-based fibers. The production process involves breaking down raw materials into individual fibers, which are then dried and mixed with adhesives such as urea-formaldehyde resin or other suitable bonding agents. After this, the mixture is pressed under high heat and pressure to form dense panels. MDF typically has a density ranging from 0.5 to 0.8 g/cm³ and comes in thicknesses between 3 mm and 30 mm. It is commonly used in furniture, cabinetry, and interior design due to its smooth surface and uniform texture. Unlike natural wood, MDF is less prone to warping or splitting, making it a popular choice for a wide range of applications. However, it is important to note that MDF can emit formaldehyde, so proper ventilation and sealing are recommended when working with it.
