1) Track Bearing Orientation: It's important to record the orientation of each bearing during its installation on the rolling mill. 3) Clean the Bearing: Thorough cleaning is essential to eliminate contaminants like dirt, water, residual lubricant, or other debris that could cause severe wear. Small bearings can be cleaned using fire oil, mineral oil, or commercial solvents, while larger bearings may require neutral oil with a viscosity of 22 cSt (or 100 SUS at 100°F) at 40°C. Cleaning should be done carefully to avoid damage to the bearing surfaces.

4) Inspect the Bearing: Examine the bearing for any signs of damage, such as small cracks or peeling on the inner or outer race. If minor damage is found, it can often be repaired using a sander to smooth out the affected areas. Pay attention to the surface condition and make sure no defects are overlooked.

5) Check Wear Levels Regularly: Monitoring the wear level of the bearing is crucial. This can be done by measuring the bearing clearance, which helps determine if the bearing is still within acceptable limits or needs replacement.

6) Inspect and Repair the Bearing Housing: Ensure the housing is free from damage and properly aligned. Any necessary repairs should be carried out before reassembling the bearing to maintain optimal performance.

7) Reinstall the Bearing: Once all inspections and repairs are complete, carefully place the bearing back into the housing, ensuring proper alignment and secure fit.

8) Inspect and Repair the Roll Neck: Depending on the condition, the roll neck may need to be inspected and repaired to ensure compatibility with the newly installed bearing.

9) Mount the Bearing Housing onto the Roll: Finally, install the bearing housing along with the bearing onto the roll, ensuring everything is properly secured and functioning as intended.
