National Energy Administration: China and Europe identify key energy cooperation areas for the future

On the 9th, it was learned from the National Energy Administration that China and the EU will strengthen energy cooperation and jointly safeguard energy security. In the future, cooperation will be focused on improving energy processing conversion efficiency, clean energy development and utilization, and energy regulatory systems and management.

It is reported that the fifth China-EU energy dialogue was held in Brussels, Belgium on the 8th. Liu Tie-nan, deputy director of the National Development and Reform Commission and director of the National Energy Administration, co-chaired the meeting with the EU energy commissioner, Dieter Ottinger.

Liu Tienan said that energy cooperation has become one of the most active and potential areas for cooperation between China and the EU. China and France have conducted a number of pragmatic cooperation in nuclear power, in photovoltaic power generation in Germany, in wind power in Denmark, and in oil exploration and development in the United Kingdom. China-EU energy cooperation has brought about tangible benefits to both parties, created a large number of employment opportunities, shared markets and technologies, and promoted economic growth and common development.

During the meeting, Liu Tienan and Dieter Ottinger signed the minutes of the meeting and reached consensus. According to minutes, China and the EU will strengthen information sharing and exchange of experience on government regulatory policies and latest developments in areas of common interest such as renewable energy (wind and solar energy), nuclear safety, energy efficiency, grid standards, clean coal, etc., in technical standards. The cooperation in the field will create conditions for China-EU companies to develop practical cooperation.

The Minute pointed out that China and the EU will also strengthen exchanges and cooperation in nuclear power safety technology, and stress that the international community should take a responsible attitude to ensure the absolute safety of its own nuclear facilities and at the same time strengthen the full implementation of international safety standards.

At the same time, China and the EU will jointly strengthen the management and guidance of the China-Europe Clean Energy Center and promote its positive progress in clean energy and technology. The China-Europe Clean Energy Center will actively promote joint R&D in the field of clean energy and encourage private partners from both sides to participate.

According to the minutes, in order to implement the consensus reached by the leaders of China and the EU, the China National Energy Administration and the European Commission will jointly host the China-EU High-level Energy Conference in Brussels in 2012. The meeting will promote the links between the two sides in the challenges of energy security, energy technology, energy and urbanization. , as well as the in-depth exchange of energy development strategy and planning areas between China and the EU, to determine the direction and key areas for future pragmatic cooperation between the two sides. q
