In recent days, the Shanghai Fire Department has implemented a variety of initiatives to promote fire safety awareness during spring. These efforts aim to educate different groups of people, enhance their understanding of fire prevention, and foster better communication between firefighters and the public, ultimately creating a more harmonious relationship.
The Xinqiao Fire Squadron visited Dafeng (Shanghai) Computer Co., Ltd. to conduct fire safety campaigns. During the event, firefighters provided detailed explanations on fire prevention and self-rescue techniques, and guided employees through hands-on training with firefighting equipment and air respirators. This initiative significantly improved the employees’ ability to prevent and respond to fires, raising overall fire safety awareness within the community.
Meanwhile, the Songjiang Fire Brigade invited students from Jiuting Town Center Elementary School to tour the fire station. They were introduced to fire engines, their functions, and equipment, followed by an interactive fire safety class that helped students understand daily fire risks and how to respond in emergencies. This program played a key role in advancing campus fire safety education.
The Jinshan Fire Brigade also engaged with local residents through a TV program, discussing common fire issues in residential areas. Using real data, they analyzed fire causes and emphasized the importance of early warning systems, proper use of fire-fighting tools, and long-term safety measures. The program aimed to raise public awareness and encourage proactive fire prevention.
At Zhabei Fire Brigade, over 120 students from Zhongshan North Road Elementary School visited the station. They learned about the history of the unit, fire engine operations, and how to use protective gear. Interactive demonstrations included wearing firefighter suits and using breathing apparatuses, which enhanced the students’ understanding of fire safety and strengthened ties between the fire department and local schools.
The Fengxian Fire Brigade conducted fire safety training for local employees, featuring case studies and practical exercises on fire extinguishers and hydrants. This hands-on approach improved participants’ confidence in handling emergencies and reinforced the importance of regular maintenance of fire equipment.
The Jinshan Fire Brigade also organized open days at the fire station, offering the public a chance to learn about fire prevention, escape techniques, and equipment usage. Additionally, they visited nursing homes to explain fire risks and safe evacuation methods to elderly residents, ensuring they were well-prepared in case of an emergency.
The Minhang Fire Brigade partnered with local police to train hundreds of community security personnel on fire response, vehicle combustion, and underground space safety. Emphasis was placed on preparedness and familiarity with fire equipment to ensure quick and effective action during emergencies.
In Qingpu, the fire brigade focused on vulnerable groups, schools, and key units, teaching them how to use basic fire equipment and escape safely. They also collaborated with media to highlight the work of firefighters, promoting a positive image of the fire service and increasing public engagement with fire safety.
Finally, the Jingan Fire Detachment conducted community outreach, educating residents on essential fire prevention knowledge, including six escape methods and four response strategies. Participants expressed a stronger commitment to applying what they learned in their daily lives, and the team plans to expand these efforts further.
This comprehensive approach reflects the ongoing dedication of the Shanghai Fire Department to improving public safety and fostering a culture of fire awareness across all sectors of society.
