In the context of China's Taowei Hardware Exhibition, which features a wide range of product displays and promotional activities, it's clear that the future of bathroom hardware is being shaped by evolving consumer preferences. From the latest product launches and marketing strategies showcased by sanitary hardware exhibitors, we can observe emerging trends in the industry. These trends are increasingly focused on enhancing the quality of life, with consumers seeking more attention to detail and a richer spatial experience.
E-commerce and online marketing have become essential for growth. Gaoyao Jinli Town Gujiada Hardware Products Factory, a manufacturer specializing in bathroom hardware such as clips, shower hinges, fixing clips, partition codes, glass clips, and more, has emerged as a standout company at this year’s Ceramic Expo. While the exhibition planning was impressive, the real highlight lay in its integration of e-commerce and channel operations. Very few other companies have taken this approach as seriously as Gujiada, and the author believes that e-commerce will soon become a major force in the bathroom hardware market, with online marketing playing a crucial role in brand promotion.
Color variety is also on the rise. At the Huayi Bathroom Exhibition Hall, faucets in gold-plated, antique, and brushed finishes caught the eye, while shower heads came in vibrant red, yellow, and green tones. As single-color designs begin to feel monotonous, consumers are now looking for more diverse color options and combinations. With tiles, toilets, basins, and cabinets offering a wider range of colors, bathroom hardware must also evolve to match these aesthetic demands, requiring more colorful options in faucets, floor springs, showers, and pendant fixtures.
Material combinations are becoming more complex. Currently, bathroom hardware typically uses a combination of copper and stainless steel, with copper as the core and stainless steel for the exterior, often finished with chrome plating. However, at this year’s Taobao meeting, there was a noticeable shift toward using plastics and glass materials to enhance both design and functionality. Especially in appearance, traditional stainless steel may no longer meet modern design needs. The author suggests that more material combinations will emerge in the future. Moreover, aluminum—particularly aluminum alloys—has been widely used in aerospace, automotive, and household appliances, proving its safety and practicality. The application of aluminum in bathroom hardware, especially in floor springs, should be an inevitable trend.
User-friendly design is another key focus. This year’s Ceramic Fair featured some artistic faucet designs and shower products with back-rinse functions, but these innovations haven't yet gained full consumer acceptance. Therefore, both consumer education and product design need to align more closely with real-life needs. In the future, door closers and other bathroom hardware should not only be functional but also more human-centered, catering to visual, tactile, and even olfactory experiences to better satisfy psychological expectations.
